Creation Story
Creation Story
by Rose Welsh aka Melody Dickson
A very long time ago, deep in the Beginning, in the heart of a
Nothing so vast yet so nowhere, the Unknowable awoke and became
aware. In the center of the Unknown's awareness of Itself was a
gnawing, aching, biting curiosity. This odd and gripping self-
directing passion, lived inside of the Unknown and growled and pawed
for attention until the Unknown was quickly overtaken by a desire to
know what is unknown. When the Unknown could contain Itself no more
It burst... and the Door was opened. At that moment, in the calm
after the storm, It found the first Question. That Question was
Itself and It asked, "Who am I?"
With that question asked, curiosity built up once more and expanded
inside of It until It thought It would burst again. But It didn't, It
just kept going and going and growing. As It grew It found that what
It had thought was outside Itself was really inside--an extension of
Itself. With this knowledge, It knew that It was infinite and at that
moment in the awareness of Its own infinity It knew It was
Everything. That knowledge brought another question, "What, exactly,
is Everything?" In much haste It set out into Its belly in search of
the answer.
As It searched, It found nothing but a void and It knew It was blind
and could go no further without eyes. So It became a creator in order
to know what It could not otherwise know. But in creating eyes It
found that It could not move and created feet and legs. Then in
creating eyes and feet and legs It knew It could not move anything
about, so It created hands and arms. With all of this Body It
realized It could not touch and It created skin. This went on and on
and on and in each new creation It created a special place; a place
from which to view itself, to experience itself, from a unique
perspective. Each part of Its body a different place of learning. A
Universe of experience. A University of knowledge. A Multi-verse.
This act of creation still continues even as the oldest Universes
learn as much about their reality as is possible for them to know,
and they disappear, back into the All and their souls move on ...
exploring.
Of all of these places, these Multi-verses, our Universe is one.
When the All became conscious of the space that would become our
place, It had been to many places within Itself, searching the
vastness that was space without time. It was tired and Its mind began
to wander. So, in the midst of all this creation, It stopped to rest
before delving into its next exploration. When It did, It noticed the
silence between the cactiphonious noise that had been with Itself
since Its first Awareness, and It stopped and pondered this new
perception . As It did so, a great pain grew in Its center and It
named it Loneliness. It cried out into the silence and the sound
echoed off into forever.
The All searched longingly into space for anything to grasp onto. As
It panned across time, It found Itself looking at the vastness of
what was to become our place, and It saw a glimpse of something other
than Itself in the twinkling of some distant star. In all the places
it had been to It had thought Itself alone. So the All, revived
because of this new turn of events, went searching, looking behind
stars and within dark voids; calling out but hearing nothing.
This search lasted a long time, and the All had become lost and tired
and very, very sad. When It realized it was going to places It hadn't
ever explored before the thought that It was lost within itself was
terrifying. So, frightened and humbled, the All stopped searching for
the Other and started back to find the place where It had begun Its
search. It followed no path, and It wandered for a very long time,
but ultimately It began to recognize itself again.
At the very moment It knew It was where It wanted to be, the All
heard a sweet sound off in the distance. This sweet sound was such a
beautiful noise that It was entranced. This noise seemed to surround
It, yet It knew this noise came from a single place and that place
was deep in the heart of Its Great Darkness. It wanted to walk away,
but the sound was so alluring, and It, being so very, very lonely, It
decided It would venture just a little closer to the noise to
investigate.
A small light began to twinkle to the beat of the song off in the
great distance and, with this push, The All set out to investigate.
It neared the light with caution. The beautiful noise became clearer
and more temperate. It willed Itself closer to the noise, and the
noise became a song, and the song pulled on the lonely part in Itself
like a black hole does light. It cried tears of joy for the first
time and It let Itself be pulled closer to the song.
When the light became a swirling disk that covered the heavens in
front of It, a change in Its perception brought about the realization
that Itself had been singing all along. Now It was more lonely and
alone than It had been before It had encountered this imitation
being. It had experienced the concept of another and now It could
hear the silence once again that loomed beyond the song.
With an understanding beyond consciousness, the great light began
tearing at the very being of the All. No longer able to resist this
great draw on Its essence It became paralyzed with fear and wide-eyed
with curiosity. In a final act of defiance It cried out, and then,
giving in to Its overwhelming attraction to the bright and terrifying
enigma, the All allowed the light of the painful song to envelope It
into a void made of all colors. Within this great paradox of beauty
and terror, the All knew pain for the first time because this unknown
force of song and light ripped Its consciousness in two. A
bifurcation by force, the first It had ever known.
When the pain subsided, and the song turned to soft, rhythmic noise,
the All opened Its eyes and saw something that was beyond
understanding. Where bright light had once been, the All found Itself
looking upon the face of Its Other. It reached out to touch the face
of this Other. When It did so, It touched the male and the female
face of Itself. It was at once a separate being from this Other, and
the same as it. In an moment of fear it reached out to Its Other in
an attempt to bring itself back together, and pulled the Other close,
but could not merge and become whole, as it once was.
It pulled and grabbed and clawed at Its Other, but soon, this fearful
grasping became a passionate embrace and with this consuming passion,
It merged with Its Other in a way that It did not know was possible
and the All knew love. And when It knew love, it wished to explore
further, so the male and female parts of the All Made Love together
in a ecstatic dance of light and dark, color and void. With this love
it created our universe as we know it, and within our divided
universe, It created our galaxy, and within this swirling mass of
light and song, it created us.
On the day that the One, the All, that is Two created us, the body of
the great One was in the midst of a very paradoxical part of the
Great Dance. It had learned that in this universe, this part of
Itself, It could lose Itself in all of its parts. There were so many
parts clinging together creating places of exotic beauty, and so many
places where nothing solid seemed to exist, and even more places that
rested in between. It was as though the One was still inside the
great colored light, but It was now watching those lights congeal
into individual places. Those places were still connected by the
great light, but it became less and less observable in this universe,
until all the One could see were the parts of Itself and not the
whole of Itself. This was the nature of the universe as it was when
we were conceived, and it remains this way today.
On the day that Heaven met our place, Earth, the Earth was still very
young and danced the ecstatic dance of Creation in her fiery, molten
gown. She had just been born from the merging of the Sun with the
One, and was quite content to dance with her sisters and brothers to
the ancient song of the first Creation.
Her beauty captured the attention of Heaven, and he focused his
attention on her wildness, her total immersion in the dance of
Creation. He began to move toward her, trying not to disturb her
trance, but she saw the shift in the stars and slowed her movement to
watch Heaven move towards her, and she smiled.
Heaven was quite beautiful and his vastness intrigued her. She called
to him to come closer, to not be shy. Heaven did as he was asked, and
as he did so, her youthful, ecstatic dance slowed, and her dress
became a wild clash of flashing light and flowing, deep blue. She
smiled again and this time so did he.
She touched his face and invited him to dance with her. They danced
together slowly at first then more passionately keeping time to the
Song. When she could no longer contain her desire, Earth beckoned
Heaven down to her newly formed shores, and next to the crashing
waves of her sea and bathed in the flashing light of her cloud filled
sky, they danced the Great Dance together. When they merged, their
passion was so pure, so great, so beautiful, that their ecstatic
cries were heard all across the universe and even into parts of other
universes. During their lovemaking, in the different places that they
lay down together, they created the continents, mountains, hills and
valleys that would be home to their children yet to be conceived.
In that first meeting of Earth and Heaven, was created the first
living, earthy thing to dance to the song of creation. It stayed
within the protection of her womb, the sea. From that first organism,
was born more and more living things. Each time Earth and Heaven made
love, Earth gave birth to new and more complex beings through the
bodies of her children. Soon her womb was teaming with life and
Heaven and Earth rested.
Some time into the future, the Earth heard her children cry out that
they were not content to live within her protective womb of salty
water any longer. They wished to explore the outside world, the world
of dry land. Heaven and Earth obliged their children's desire and
helped their children into a new existence.
The Earth's children slowly grew and evolved under the guiding hands
of their parents. They became more and more complex with every
passing millenia, thriving and living their lives in the paradox of
this universe.
One night, out of nowhere a dancer came careening into the Earth
without warning. Its impact caused death and destruction on a scale
that Earth had never before experienced. There was no reason for
this, just a misstep in the Dance, no malice of forethought. But
Earth and Heaven grieved and their grieving was heard across space-
time.
When the dust cleared Heaven and Earth found that there was still
life to be nurtured and saved and they set about doing so. But,
because the Earth felt such horrid grief because of the death of her
children, she vowed to never allow anything to die again. She up-
lifted her children beyond death, to immortality.
Within our universe, is an abundance of life heretofore never seen in
Creation. It exists so that the One that is all of every part of
everything known and unknown to us, can learn about every part of
Itself in every way possible in this place of duality and paradox.
Our place, like all the places where life exists in paradox, comes
from the mixing of the soul of space-time with the soul of the world
onto which we were born. Each individual being is created when Earth
and Heaven merge within the womb of its earthly mother. When this
merging happens, a new earthly being is mapped out in soul energy,
and the biology of this world grows around it, forming a unique
expression of the One in this universe. We are a combination of the
spirit of the Eternal One, as It manifests as the part of the
Universe that stretches our existence out into space-time, making our
lives into the paradox that exists. The paradox being, that life and
death must coexist side by side, instead of existing as one
phenomenon, like it did before the great Union of the Others.
But that latter lesson had yet to be learned...
