Samhain And The Acorn
Samhain And The Acorn
Source Unknown
Witches once gave each other a Acorn at Samhain as a gift. The giving an Acorn to some one was a secret way of telling that person you were a witch, as only another witch would understand the meaning,
Acorns are a symbol of :
* protection,
* fertility,
* growth,
* values and friendship.
It should also be noted that within the Acorn lies a forest just waiting to come to life. When giving a Acorn to another, you are reminding them that within themselves there is so much to give - learn and teach. In other words, they have their own forest within themselves.
And one final thought and note: This custom is thought to have also been used during the burning times so others of like mind could be recognized.
