Creating a Harmonious Environment

When walking the Path of Self - finding out about yourself - and facing or doing shadow work, work on imaging skills, or meditating; it will be helpful for you to establish a harmonious environment and to cleanse that space on all levels. Begin by selecting a quiet place where you will be able to work alone and undisturbed. Find a space where you can remain completely centered in the present moment. When first beginning such practices as meditation and creative imaging, it is much easier to work in an area you will be able to concentrate fully. Ideally a space reserved for just such activities is most suitable, but when this isn't possible, chose a place that attracts the least amount of outside disturbance. This is most important because every person consists of energy, and their energy can remain or linger in an area even after they have left it. You will want to work in an environment that contains as few outside influences as possible - an area that harmonizes and resonates with your own personal energy.

When you have decided on the best space available, sit in the area for a while, and just look around. Is there anything that bothers or nags at you? - a picture of someone that makes you angry; a book you feel you should be reading; a pile of laundry you haven't had time to wash? Whatever it is, tell yourself that you will get to it, and then temporarily remove it from your immediate environment.

It is also important that you feel very safe and secure, so do whatever it takes to create that situation for yourself; lock the doors and windows; close curtains or blinds; takes phones off the hook and inform your family of your need for quiet time.
