Signs in Candle Magick

Candle magick is one of the simplest and yet one of the most elusive types of magick. It is easily set up through the use of colored candles, blessed oils and a little bit of positive intention and energy but sometimes the results are hard to decipher. Often the clues to your answer are so subtle that they lay in the flicker of a candle flame, the soot on your candle glass or the smoke your candle emits. Below are some of the signs you may choose to use to interpret the results of your candle magick and understand it better.

Flame:

Flame Action	Meaning
Flame goes out	Try again, the time is not right. Dispose of the candle and do not reuse.
Flame is large and hot	Power is manifesting in favor of your desire- prayer will work.
Flame is weak	Battle is being lost; facing strong opposition- repeat the prayer again.
Flame flickers	There is indecisiveness in the process or in yourself.
Flame jumps repeatedly	Bursts of energy, uncontrolled emotions, chaotic energies.
Candle breaks	Try again, the time is not right. Dispose of candle and do not reuse.
Candle burns slowly or almost goes out	Task requires caution and due process. Many obstacles to overcome. Reassess.
Candle burns out quickly	Task needed fast energy or the goal was simple and easy.
Flame is multicolored	A salamander seeks to communicate with you through the use of color codes. Salamander energy is strong.
Black soot develops	The burning away of negativity and barriers- highly positive.
Crackling sounds	A salamander is pleading your case for you- the louder the sounds, the stronger the opposition.

Movement of smoke:

Movement	Meaning
Smoke wafts toward you	Prayer is acknowledged.
Smoke blows away from you	Perservere in your prayer in order to obtain your desire.
Smoke turns right	Use patience and wisdom.
Smoke turns left	You are too emotionally involved, sort out your emotions and try again.
Smoke moves North	Physical manifestation is in the process, work hard for it.
Smoke moves East	Mental manifestation is in the process, use wisdom and have patience.
Smoke moves South	Intense and short manifestation is in the process; success comes quickly and intensely.
Smoke moves West	Strong magickal intervention; you are too emotional- back off and try again.

Holders or Glass:

Action	Meaning
Glass breaks	Work is being done against you. For uncrossing and jinx removing, spell has been broken.
Glass remains clear	Prayer is granted in spite of opposition.
Glass turns black at top but is clear at bottom	Someone is working against you. The darker the glass, the stronger the opposition. Persevere.
Glass turns completely black	Serious obstacles. Cleanse, remove negativity and perform an anti-hex spell
