Bargain Resources for Your Witchy Supplies

I get asked all the time, "where can I buy affordable Witchy supplies?" Well let me tell you that you'd be surprised where you can find things. Look around when you are out and about, Dollar  Tree, Dollar Stores and several similar stores have good bargains for things. Even garage sales sometimes have things you will be surprised what you can find.. You can work magick on a small budget.

Here are a few examples of things that I have bought at these stores:

Herbs and Spices.  The grocery section is great for picking up herbs and spices that can be used in sachets, incense blends, and mojo bags.  I’ve found:

-Cinnamon Sticks or Powder(Spirituality, Success, Healing, Power,Luck, Strength, Prosperity purification and protection and love)
-Garlic (protection)
-Basil (love)
-Cayenne - (Cleansing and purification. Repels negativity. Speeds up the effect of any mixture its added to).
-Chili Powder (used in hoodoo/voodoo)
-Chili pepper - (Fidelity, Hex Breaking, Love)
-Oregano (marriage blessing/kitchen witchery,Joy, strength, vitality and added energy)
-Onion Powder (protection)
-Chopped Onion(protection)
-Cumin - (Protection, Fidelity, Exorcism)
-Sea Salt.  Sometimes it’s coarse, and sometimes it’s finely ground.  Either way, there is usually some kind of bulk salt available for circle-casting and spellwork
-Salt (protection, purification)

Candles.  Tea candles, pillar candles, jar candles.  They have them all.  White ones make great all-purpose candles for carving symbols in and anointing with various oils.  They are generally much cheaper at the dollar store than almost anywhere else. I keep a large amount of tea candles on hand because I use them often. Colored ones work for spells too. I still order my 4" spell candles online for detailed spells.

Incense. Some of the incense works fine from these stores but I also like to buy from online sources as well as my specialty shops when I get over to them.

Glass jars, bottles, and holders  If you’re into herbalism, you know that you can never have enough glass jars, which are ideal for storing herbs, tinctures, salves and brews.  Plastic tends to break down and contaminate these items. I also check out these stores for candle holders and witch bottles.

Spring water.  For cleansing rituals and whatnot.

Small bowls, dishes and trays.  To put on the altar for offerings, spring water, salt and oils.

Wine Glasses.  Simple chalices.  I have seen some lovely, very expensive pewter and metallic chalices, but honestly, a lot of them are beautiful but expensive, those are nice if you have the money but simple glass ones work and you can dress it up, you can wrap the stem with silk ribbons or twine, glue seashells to the base or tie charms to them. You can also paint them with glass paints from the craft stores. Really personalize them.

Seasonal decor.  I usually make a trip before any given Sabbat or holiday for altar decorations.

I have even found stones in the most unusual places, such as a Truck Stop that I stopped by to get gas, there they had a display of some pretty stones for a cheap price and I grabbed a handful before I left. Nice surprise that day.

So shop around, these stores and more have good bargains for the Witch that are perfectly usable and will work for your magickal needs, you do not have to buy expensive supplies for your magick to work, it's what you put into it, not the products you buy, the fancy supplies are a nice extra when you can afford it or when you just say, "I deserve it", but the power isn't within the product you buy, it's within you. REMEMBER, those fancy expensive "blessed candles","incense" and other tools and supplies aren't any better than what you put together yourself. It's fine if you want to splurge on those now and then for something extra special or pretty to add to your altar but those items aren't necessary to do your magick, those are just extravagant things that are nice to have but not needed if you don't have the extra money to splurge.
