Crafting a Clay Goddess

I like making things with clay. There are different kinds of clay mediums to work with and today I am going to give you some examples and recipes for a couple types.

First I made this clay goddess with sculpy clay you can buy ready to work with at craft stores like Hobby Lobby and Joanne's and Michael's, I think Walmart might even have some.

Here is another type of Clay and a recipe that you can easily make
Here is an example of what it can make
Not my work but also very nice

Crafting a Clay Goddess
I enjoy working with is clay, whether it's pottery clay, polymer clay, salt dough or quick drying, it's a medium I find very versatile to work with.
This clay recipe is similar to salt dough, it's very easy to make and you can do so many things with it.

What You Need
- 1 Box baking soda (about 2 cups)
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 1/2 cups water
- sauce pan
- bowl
- spoon
- saran wrap

Mix all the ingredients together in a saucepan. Cook it over medium heat, stirring constantly. It's done when it becomes too thick to stir with a spoon.

Let it cool for about 15 minutes, or until you can comfortably touch the dough. You then want to knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it is smooth.

You are now ready mold it into whatever you like.

Once molded let them dry. It can take 1 - 2 days depending on how thick or large you made the items. Once thoroughly dry you can paint your pieces, Tempera or acrylic craft paints work best
